I need a new steering wheel as mine is coming unstitched and is not very nice anyway. Has anybody got any recommendations. It needs to be 13" with a 6 hole 4" PCD fixing. I quite fancy wood but I know a few of the euro tour crowd commented found them slippery in hot weather.

I think the standard leather wheels look the best and are the most practical too. Never been a huge fan of wooden wheels, and as you've said, can be a bit slippery when hot.

How about getting it recovered instead?

My 2nd S had a wooden wheel. Going against previous comments I found it most slippery when cold and warm clammy hands gripped better. I suggest replacing with a new leather one or (if it were me) get your current one recovered in alcantara lick

I disagree.

Nothing wrong with a wood wheel:

I prefer a good quality wood wheel. It feels like a classic. I have not had any problems driving with mine. Leather is OK but I have those in my everyday modern cars.

Hi All,
I got this as it looked the same colour as the red leather I will be using, It's not quite the same red so it may not get used?, will see when the inside is finished, It's a Barachetta racing wheel,350mm and super light.

I will cut down the tree next week and start carving the new shroud. May be ready for next year.

Mine has a nice looking wood rimmed wheel (Astrali) but it is quite thin. I do find it uncomfortable and cold and I wouldnt recommend it. It is difficult to maintain a good enough grip and it isnt nice when you hit a pothole! On my 'to do' list is a leather covered wheel. My wheel is however one of the larger ones in diameter and I will stay with the biggest I can use. I calculated the increase in steering effect needed with a wheel even 1 inch smaller and I think I would start to struggle with these old arms.
