How rare is an SL65 AMG?
Discussion
I checked on the Howmanyleft web site. In 2004 (first year of production) 46 cars were licensed. By 2014 this figure had risen to 86 cars licensed. Now some are possibly on Sorn but also some might have been written off so unless i have misunderstood the info about a further 40 cars have been sold in ten years !
I had one on trial for a week earlier in the summer. Its very very good but I had a few issues with it;
- Interior is very 'previous gen' Merc. Not a patch on the new C-Class
- Doesn't sound amazing (yeah V12 I know)
- SL63 is so much cheaper and sounds better
Most comments I got were either 'for a lot less the SL63 is very nearly as good' or 'for a tiny bit more you can get an SLS'.

A 65 AMG cold start is just mind-blowing... unbeatable.
The power and the torque of the 65 AMG is priceless...
This engine was launched at the end of 2003, it just gained 18 hp in 2011, but the torque figure remains the same (1000 Nm / 738 foot pound), that shows how immensely powerful it is.
