If it's the noise I'm thinking of then it is normal.

Hard to make a noise on a forum (lol) but it sounds like spinning a washer on a bolt.
Under what circumstances does this noise occur? If you can describe how to make the noise occur in your car, then hopefully the OP can confirm his car has the same noise (or that it's a different noise?)... smile

You'd hope the dealer would know if it sounded normal or not before spending days investigating and advising restricted driving. If it is normal, and if the OP can live with the noise I hope it is, then I'd have even less confidence in the dealers ability to do anything.

A lot of dealers in the RUK network don't sell/service that many Renaultsport models. I can count how many we've sold this year on my fingers!

Between May 2009 and Dec 2012 there were just over 2500 Clio 200 cars registered. Based on Renault's website showing 232 UK dealers that's roughly 10 per dealer across 3.5 years. They really aren't a car that the dealers see much of.

When my 200 broke, the dealer in Glasgow was useless so I ended up with a 230 mile round trip to Ness Motors who knew exactly what was wrong within 30 seconds of seeing it.

Firstly, what's it got to do with Renault UK? You bought the car from a dealer, not Renault themselves.
It might be a Renault UK owned dealership. Don't they own a chunk of them?

First off thank you to everyone who at least understands my situation, I was just asking for a bit of advice if the situation drags on, Im not looking to hand the car back but just wanted to know if it was an option if things dragged on.

Second, This is the exact noise mine makes. Same RPM, Same noise.

Ive never once heard this noise on my previous 197 so obviously its a bit of a worry. Im sure if many of you heard that noise you would be feeling the same as myself.

I will have an ask on the Renault forums and get an answer on this being a normal sound.

Thanks everyone.

I've been through it with RUK back in 2010 when my 200 was brand new. Their solution was not to rev it past 3.5k lol.

Here's a few threads on it.

Jesus.

I think it's quite clear from those two quotes, the car rarely gets driven hard but when it does the noise is there.
Honestly, PH is the wrong place for actual helpful adivce, all you'll find is aholes on their lunchhour trying to be witty.

I would suggest a specific Renault forum, not sub forum of PH, an actual forum.

If you want to return it or swap it then suggest that to Renault UK.
They might jump at the chance to close the story.

Getting SOGA and the courts involved is only relevant if they refuse to accept it back or fix it.

Try asking them about it before demanding to see them in court.
