Convertible car hire, Miami in November
Discussion
Just wondering what to hire for 5 days in early November, my wife and I have 5 days to get from Miami to Key West and back, fancied a mustang or a camaro and wondering where to stop along the route.
Would welcome any suggestions about hotels and also which car will be more fun? and who to rent from
Thanks in advance

Stick to the big names, Hertz or Alamo ime are the best out of Miami.
The drive down to Key West is ok, but most is single lane and pretty low speed limit and usually quite busy, so expect it to take longer than you expect.
In all honesty, not a huge amount to see on the way down, the views are pretty spectacular but get a little samey after a few hours. Check trip advisor for some good restaurants.
As for hotels, I would try and make the trip in one day and stay on Key West, there are some very comfortable resorts that you can relax in and get away from Miami - I am not a huge fan of Miami, but some love it.

Thanks Chris, some useful stuff there. We drove down to the Keys about 25 years ago and I do recall it was as bit monotonous. AS we have 5 days in Miami , in between a couple of Caribbean cruises, with no real fixed destinations are there any other places (apart from Disneyland) within a couple of hundred miles that you could suggest?
Cheers

The best thing that we (wife and I) have ever done in Florida is to visit Nasa, when you go, make sure you book as many tours etc as possible. It's a fascinating place and with all the budget cuts etc. it may not be around for much longer. But it is a bit of a drive. Cheers

The real problem you are having is that you are in-between Caribbean cruises (beaches and food) and that's pretty much Florida! I wasn't too impressed with the Everglades but you may have a good time if you take a fan boat tour etc.

We were lucky to watch the maiden launch of the shuttle Endeavour a few years ago, I have to agree the Nasa spaceport is amazing but been there 3 times before..
