Mileage and handling can go hand in hand with the more expensive branded tyres, but mileage and grip do not. There is no necessity to go for BMW approved tyres, and I would steer away from runflats if you want better grip, comfort and a reasonable price.

Out of interest, did you get the CSL wheels from eBay?

I got stung by an eBay trader last year when trying to buy a set of used BMW alloys (non-CSL) for winter use last year. Found out after handing over my card details that he was selling fakes, but as part of getting evidence for my credit card company to issue a refund I found a lot of threads about the seller and his penchant for selling fake CSLs.

Ok - hoping that it's not the same guy. frown

Can't name and shame here due to the forum rules, but Google 'ebay warning fake csl wheels being sold as genuine' and take the top link.

Some other PHers have had issues too - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

In my case I got cold feet the day after I bought them as rechecked the eBay invoice and couldn't figure out why it would take 4 weeks to ship a set of wheels that were advertised as being in stock. I then cancelled, and had to keep chasing to get a refund. In the end had to get my credit card company to refund the money and it was only then that he sent me a cheque.

Might be worth comparing your wheels to this thread as well - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Michelin super sports are getting good reviews at the moment. Pirelli pzero asym 2 the same. I have the former on my 6 and the later on the wife's z4 and both are good tyres. Others will come in with their personal favourites
