Should having air con be a deal breaker ?
Discussion
I'm currently looking around for a Tuscan and notice that quite a few don't have air con (only standard on the S), that said some people have told me that it isn't very good any way so I shouldn't worry.
What's the general view on this, is it important (in the back of my mind I'm wanting to make sure wifey is comfortable if I'm going to convince her to partake in a few nice jaunts over the channel in it)?

Never used it in any of my Tuscans, just take the roof off and take the back window out. The only problem you will have is if you try and px it at a dealers, they will take a sharp intake of breath and say "what a shame, everyone wants aircon, BUT when they try and sell it they will say "you don't need it, if it's that hot take the roof off, it doesn't work that well anyway"

I use my Aircon a lot on my Tuscan Vert , even with the roof off. I find it really efficient. You will definitely need aircon on your Sag Gordon ( I think you will be better staying with your Vert ... I think you'll find a Sag a little claustrophobic )
Hi Keith, i am staying with the Vert as i cannot seem to find a Saggy at the right price, our cars are selling for around £35000 for the S version, BUT the dealers only want to give you around £25000 PX.................Gordon,spend the money on your Vert ... upgrade it to 4.5 SS with new ECU,full respray and if the interior is looking shabby get that done to ..... Then you have a NEW car to enjoy. I doubt I will ever sell mine , so value is irrelevant other than for insurance writeoff and mines now agreed £55k.
Having had two British 'specilaist' sports cars both with aircon I bought my Tuscan without that feature. My experience with a Marcos and a Noble is it's one more thing to go wrong, creates additional heat in the under-bonnet/radiator area for a marginal benefit. On the Tuscan's I viewed that did have aircon the dealers said it wasn't a very good system - so I wouldn't say it was a deal breaker especially when you remove the roof.
My previous Tuscan had no A/C and can't say I had many situations where I thought it was necessary. Current MK2/3 S had it as standard and it works very well although not used a lot as generally prefer roof off. It does have it's uses on longer journeys when you don't want to drive with the roof off. As with any TVR buy on condition you can always have it fitted if you think it is really necessary.
I have A/C in the Tuscan having bought my Griff new I thought why do I want to cough up for air on on a convertible car but then we started to have holidays with other club members touring France in the summer so when I bought the Tuscan I wanted air con and whilst it is not as good as the Jag it does keep the cabin cool and comfortable for touring. If you are just going for a blat at the weekend I would not be too bothered hope that is of some help

My Sagaris has air con...retro fitted by the factory after it went for hot weather testing in Saudi (did'nt make it off the container since Saudi don't allow rt hand drive cars!...thats TVR forward planning for you.... )....anyhow...back to topic....only really works if the car is cold....just about keeps up.... not essential in my book...it's not a Merc or BMW after all...
