Difficult to pick favourites.

Almost anything featuring Tony Levin - solo, B.L.U.E., King Crimson, Peter Gabriel....

And most stuff by Brand X (Percy Jones).

For me, just about anything from Macca, Bruce, Entwistle or JPJ.

But the two closest to my heart are the Animals: "We've got to get out of this place", and the Beatles: "Rain", because they're the ones which I cut my bass teeth on.

Some other personal favourites are, Beatles: "Something" and "Come together", Ten Years After: "Good morning little schoolgirl", Cream: "Sunshine of your love", "White room" and "Badge", Hendrix: "Hey joe", Zep: "She's just a woman" and "The lemon song", Free: "Alright now" and "Mr Big", Sabbath: "Evil woman", and Lindisfarne: "Meet me on the corner" - lovely walking bass.

Favourite bass solo: Tal Wilkenfeld on "Cause we've ended as lovers" with Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scott's.

The first two that come to mind are Want You Back by Jackson 5 and Rearranged by Limp Bizkit:

Two classics, and both from before the era where anybody thought very much about the bass doing anything but holding down the bottom end.

I think what made me want to play bass was listening to one of my older cousin's records - Nivram by The Shadows.

Bit of insomnia so I've been working my way back through this thread, some really good stuff.

Here's one that a few of you might remember...

RDF - Rogue Trooper

I saw them live at the Boardwalk in Manchester circa 1990 something - great band!
