Barking dogs next door
Discussion
My next door neighbours got 2 puppies about 9 months or so ago, a shih Tzu and a bichon frise, little yappy things. At first it was fine as their barks were pretty quiet. Now they've matured the things are driving me up the wall with their incessant barking, from about 7am to 11pm when they get let out for their evening poo.
What's almost more annoying is that whenever the dogs start barking, the neighbours start shouting at the dogs, telling them off.
Neighbours are a retired couple so it's not as if the dogs are left alone all day.
I'm going to gently approach them about making their evening poo a bit earlier- I go to bed about 10pm due to having to be up at 5:30am for work, and our bedroom is at the back of the house. Hopefully they won't have a hissy fit about that. but is there actually anything they can do to shut the dogs up? Or am I going to have 10 years of getting driven mad?

They seem to run around the garden all day, can't say I've ever seen them be taken for a proper walk but I work full time so they might do it during the day, haven't noticed it at weekends though. I do think they probably need a good session up the park with a tennis ball to wear them out!

Im sure if they are decent neighbours they will understand. All the best.
Understanding is nice, but I think the OP would prefer if they did something about it We live between two english bull terriers and a jack russell and both like the sound of their own voices, but its not very often, so its fine.
Thankfully, Herbie hardly barks at all. In fact the last time he barked was when he woke himself up from a dream!

Yes I suspected this might be a possibility. Too much energy and boredom turns too vocalusing. Difficult one to tackle though. HumbleJim said:
Mine likes to bark @ next doors dog (which doesn't often react) a squirt with a water pistol seems to stop the barking. Still gets pretty agitated though.
Ours barks at water pistols & hosepipes, she goes mental attacking the water. It's a great game in the summer with her, just aim a hosepipe & laugh as she tries to attack the water then leave her to cool off.Appear to have found a solution.
Spent the day taking the undertrays off my BMW to clean it underneath. Dogs could smell me out on the drive between the two houses but couldn't see me due to laying on the floor so were going mental. This annoyed my neighbours so much they kept the dogs inside all day
Ahhhh peace and quiet

I had exactly the same as this, the two dogs next barked constantly for hours on end and I work from home and one hot summers day I had the windows open and they barked for 6 hours and could not stand it any longer and knocked on the door and politely asked if she could please stop her dogs barking she said she had tried I said why not go to the vets and see if could help, that night a police women knocked on the door and accused me of harassment I was fuming and told her the dogs was barking for up to 6 hours a day she said there was no law against that, I asked her for her email address as it was against the law and then asked her to leave, I forwarded the act over to her about dogs barking and got an apology, then I went to the council and reported the neighbour and the council came round and spoke to them, the next day no dogs barking and the neighbours came round and apologised, I hated doing it but all the dogs wanted was to get back in doors and after 6 months I had enough What's almost more annoying is that whenever the dogs start barking, the neighbours start shouting at the dogs, telling them off.
