A manager in our company has read the FISH! philosophy book and has decided to implement this in our office, especially "Choose your attitude".

I find all of this a bit pointless and whilst it may work in a fish market I'm not sure it would work as well in an office.

I would be interested to hear from anybody who's workplace has tried this and whether it worked or not.

Thanks.

He probably doesn't understand the FISH! philosophy fully and the implications for the management team if he does, hes been sold an idea putting it into practice is a whole different kettle of fish.

Unbelievably I hadn't thought of that!!

Foliage, I think he liked the idea of everybody being happy and the consequence of it boosting productivity.

I haven't read the book myself but I can't help thinking that it can't be that simple.

We did, a few years ago - with mixed success, although that could be the way it was implemented by our managers. (Fun day Friday, where no work was allowed after lunch, only inter-department/inter-office games etc)
The ops staff, myself included hated it - mainly as we had SLAs to meet meaning we then worked late... others enjoyed it.
You actually got a bking it you were caught working.

The company no longer exists........

They have to do this at a local shoe shop. You even have to choose your own 'happy song' - something you will sing when bringing stock in etc.

so is this like the forced happiness you see at say disney land? where the performers are clearly being jolly through massively gritted teeth or are plainly on some kind of pills?

At least at Disney, they're actors or students.

Sounds more like the forced happiness in North Korea.

If it makes the company a bigger profit you should be squids in for a bonus!!, unless it turns out to be a load of old scallops, but you could have a whale of time fine tunaing, or schooling salmon else in it at another company who maybe all at sea, or fishing for improvements.
Ok fair enough no more from me carping on.
