I've been looking for somewhere to take a possible client to a pub evening meal
in, or near to, Dorking.

Plenty of pubs in Dorking, some of which do lunches, not evenings.
Car parking facilities would be helpful.

I've already tried the Watermill, the Red Bar, The King William IV and the Wotton Arms.

Any further advice sought.

You could do worse than try Kinghams in Shere.

It's a bit stuffy (silver service not airless!), but the food is good and it's pretty smart for a country restaurant...

The Wotton Hatch (just west of Dorking on the A25) is pretty good - plenty of tables, gastro-pub food and a big car park. Lovely part of the world actually!

Went here again just last night and would happily go back.

Thanks to all posters for the information.

1. Whoever wrote the website for the Percy Arms needs help.
It renders badly in the couple of browsers I tried.

2. Wotton Hatch (not Arms) ticks all boxes, except
try to avoid the garden tables closest to the A25. Traffic
6 feet from my evening meal isn't nice. They could do
with putting a hedge or other barrier in there.

3. The posh place at Chilham is probably outside my league,
but I'll give it a go.

4. I will also try out the Stepping Stones at West Humble.

Ominously, the Big Book of all Knowledge, aka the CAMRA
Good Beer Guide, has little to say about Dorking.

I went to Bertram Bees in Westcott last weekend and spent a wonderful sunny afternoon/evening there. Lovely place and the food was bloody excellent. They also have a "secret drinking den" on the other side of the car park which was brilliant, the decor was really fun. Reasonably informal though so depends what you're after really

How about the Arkle Manor on the A25 near Betchworth?
