Yeah, I don't get the three wheeler thing either. I appreciate the post-war rationing where there weren't enough wheels to go around or there were heaps of old fighter plane starter motors laying around and people wanting cheap transport (Vespa) but in this day and age? Then one wonders is there some sort of advantage with having only one wheel at the back? Then you can't help but compare that with that Nissan Deltawing, which is the same thing but done completely the opposite....
In their heyday, three-wheelers were popular because most people couldn't afford cars due to very high purchase tax. A three-wheeler could also be driven without a car driving licence, (think Reliant Robin), which I believe is still the case?

Advantages today include low VED, as a three wheeler is registered a a combo (motorcycle and sidecar), free passage over the Severn Bridge, motorcycle rates for the ferry to Ireland, and great fun to drive, even after getting totally soaked driving all day in torrential rain!

I do quite like it but at the price it will be once over here then it's going to be into base caterham territory at least and I'm not sure it will be able to compete with that

...interesting comparison. You wont find Aston using that phrase in their promo vids, that's for sure.

I liked it until I saw those two pricks driving it and then, I'm afraid, it fails through association...

It's no Grinnall Scorpion is it?

Ignoring the distinct whiff of cheese from the video, I've always had a fondness for these vehicles (trikes with two wheels at the front) the styling is very much Xbow all things equal I think the Grinnall is a better looking machine

I really can't see the point of these, particularly in the States. I did a tour of California last year in a convertible Mustang and experienced the terror of inattentive drivers in pickups. Even in the Mustang with the lid off I felt very vulnerable, with the top of the door reaching the hub of the wheel on some of these trucks. All it would take is one hick not paying attention for a split second on the 'freeway' and it's game over. I don't think even a full-face helmet will put up much of a fight against the sump guard of a Dodge Ram or Ford F350.

And in the UK, why wouldn't you have a Caterham/Elise or, looking at the cheaper end of the spectrum a mk1 MX-5/325i?

I quite fancy one and will be seeing if I can blag a demo as soon as possible.

Vehicles don't have to have a point, and you're a long time dead so why not experience the wacky stuff too? I've never driven anything 3 wheeled, and for £12k it's worth a shot. I've bought cars and bikes I ended up hating for much higher sums, amd I get to have fun trying something new.

It is pretty hideous, but Polaris are a great company for fun stuff. One day I'll get that winter home in upper Michigan purely so I can have a Polaris Snowmobile. cloud9

Cheesy video aside love it!

I've a real hankering for a really lightweight single seater trike, bike engined and with storage for a laptop rucksack, as my next commuter.

Loads and loads of fun to be had at low speeds, peanuts to run, different - what's not to like?

I do 25k a year commuting on my own, where any enjoyment is massively appreciated. My current Libra gives me that, but is still really too big and heavy for what I need (and it weights under 800kg with me in it).

I don't need a spare seat, or loads of boot space, equally there's no way I'll commute on something that falls over when stationary (bikes are only toys in my eyes, and once I can convince the missus I'll have one, but it'll go nowhere near the commute).

All I need is one seat, waterproof storage for my bag, and a massive grin (whether I'm blasting down the 10 miles of twisty B Road, cruising on the 30 miles of dual carriageway, or crawling through the 5 miles of city traffic).

I seem to be the only one who feels this way, whether with three wheels or four (at least at the lower end of the price scale)...

You'd have a point if
1) quad bikes didn't handle like a bucket of crap on the road, and..
2) quad bikes weren't significantly cheaper.

Other than that, bang on.

"You can feel the pavement under your seat and through your chest"!

So does that mean you've crashed and rolled it over or something.... or the floors come off? biggrin

Terrible, terrible video. Total cheese fest of vomit inducing nonsensical catchphrases and what was with the guy in the Caddy giving the nod and the girl running doing a double take? No doubt she's about to meet the Caddy guy for a bit of dogging.

And this was the quote that did it for me - who wants to feel the pavement through their chest?! How is that even possible?

Your comparing old vs new. Even at 15k with a full warranty I reckon it would be a giggle.

Silly comparing a 2-3k MX5.

Yeah, I had to listen to it twice before I figured out what he was trying to say. Even so, it does sound more like the former than the latter.
