It dates me a tad to admit that Bill and Ben's 'Weed!' character had me hiding behind the sofa, one of my earliest memories.

Also, there was a programme with a few creepy characters in a gloomy wood, one of which was a tall crow, scared the bejesus out of me.

I think it's good if a kid's prog' can be a bit challenging. Too many multi coloured dungaree wearing cuddly teddies these days. Pah!

Anyone else care to own up, tell me it's not just me ..please.

I remember some sort of snow witch thingy in the Moomins in the 80's that was a bit scary. The witch in Chorlton and the Wheelies was a bit spesh as well. hehe

The most bizarre one for me was the policeman in Jamie and the magic torch, he had no legs, just a single wheel, you could see him coming from miles away, the freaky sod.

Tomorrows world! When I was a kid, anything 'medical' had me hiding behind the sofa.

I found Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons quite scary - put on a deep menacing voice whilst two spooky rings creep across walls etc. and slowly say "This is the the voice of the Mysterons".....

Some of the fishy monsters in Stingray were great but a bit scary too.

Quite so, in a Wurzel Gummidge kind of way. Good theme tune though.

Another creepy one was Rupert Bear's (friend?) Raggety. A bundle of sticks if I remember.

Not a TV show but I was scared stless of ET for most of my childhood.

This bit especially. Just look at the thing, imagine that peeking out at you before you went to sleep.

Could never watch this guy. There was something about him...

Now he's hopefully sitting on a red hot poker in hell next to Thatcher.

The Groke.

That is pretty freaky, I seem to recall it used to freeze the landscape as they approached.. My memory is a little hazy, it was 30 odd years ago now smile

The original Tomorrow People.

Noseybonk from Jigsaw was decidedly weird as well.
