Hi all - Well not literally but I enquired via email , they called me and offered a px price so I declined, they then came back while I was at the till and I said yes and bought it over the phone before I paid for my shopping lol.

Can't wait , haven't seen it yet but it will be amazing . It's a 320 d m sport convertible . Has lots of options including those 5 star 19's . They put two new wheels , tyres, changed brakes , mot and service today . 3300 quid apparently which they obviously pay for . Am I mad without driving it ? We'll my father has a 325 d coupe so not too different . I may need to ask a few questions , has pro sat nav for starters which I may need help with as I am useless with those .
Cheers

Personally wouldn't buy without driving, however you're as safe as you'll ever be with a main dealer.

I wouldn't buy it without driving it simply because it's a really terribly suited engine to that car. The last thing you want in a drop top is a noisy 2 litre diesel. You obviously don't care about running costs - a set of tyres on those bling wheels is a grand - so why ruin a convertible with an engine like that?

Tyres are all new so not worried about those . Running costs ? You mean 50 mpg , cheap car tax ? I have done the loud sports exhaust thingy on my old 911 with a petrol engine , past that stage now . Diesel is fine . I haven't bought it to go boy racing in . Besides if I want to go faster I will go down the map route but it will be plenty good enough for me :-)

Have you driven any model 320d at all?

If not, seems a bit odd to buy a car without driving it - especially as there are a number of similar cars (Audi, Merc etc) that you might prefer.

Still, you bought it while at Tesco - so that's got to help.

Yes driven coupe with same engine . It's 181 bhp and 380 torque , that's plenty for me , besides my other half will be driving it most if the time . I wanted a tin top convertible . That's why I chose this. Plus it's my fourth 3 series and liked them all .

They are a consumable part...

No, not 50mpg unless you live on the Motorway, it's a heavy car.

I'm not talking about great noise, I'm talking about horrible noise. Nothing wrong with not wanting a great sounding car but when the roof is down and the sun is out you don't want the experience spoiled by the loud, unrefined clatter of the N47 diesel engine. It will dominate the roof-down experience and for what reason?

I just do not understand 4 cylinder diesel convertibles.

Hopefully it's not a manual?

Mum bought a new 120i vert. On paper the diesel is so much better and dare I say it suited the auto box better than the petrol.

However the second my mum heard that tractor with the top down. Decision made. Petrol. Even in 4 pot and sub 30 mpg it was worth it. Personally can't have a vert with a tractor engine. smile. My mums not a petrol head in the slightest. But when I drive it drop it in sport and redline it. It's pretty good fun and gives a sense of driving a sports car that the derv doesn't.

I think you really should drive it. If you still want the derv then good luck and enjoy the car.

Diesel convertibles are nothing new.
Ford made some lovely little tractors in the 70's.
The little "3000's" were a gem.........
Obviously you'd have to specify the 'no cab' option.

Not so sure about a tunnel run, but your tunnel vision is quite apparent.

320d is rubbish, you should have got a 330d, it's as fast as an M5.
330d is rubbish, you should have got a 335 petrol, it's as fast as a 911 turbo S.
335i is rubbish, you should have got a M3. The new one though as the old V8 one is rubbish.
M3 is rubbish, you should have got a Nissan GT-R.
GT-R is rubbish, you should have got a Veyron.

I'll stop there.

Well done on your new car, I've always loved the look of the 3 series convertible.
