You've been spotted with your brand new SP12's Aide
Looking good thumbup

Thanks Nils!
That weekend flew by, we went over to the Tour of Flanders, it's only around 100 miles from Calais. On the motorway it was like an episode of Benny Hill on fast forward wink

After an easter-monday sojourn with the family which saw the temperature get a little too high for my liking, I diagnoised two issues: 1) coolant was low, (slapped wrist) 2) The fan 1 relay had failed meaning only fan 2 was cutting in. This was due to the fluctuation in the temp reading causing the fan to switch on and off rapidly. A new sensor is now on order...
Hi

Just for info.

The ECU switches the fans on, one after the other, at staggered tempratures and then turns both off at the same time.

For example, Fan1 on at 85, Fan2 on at 86 and both off at 84.

There is no jitter such that one fan gets turned on and off as the water temprature crosses an on/off threshold. The "on" and "off" thresholds are distinct.

If you haven't already checked, I would look at the water temp sensor connection down where the steering rack is, it gets pretty dirty and wet under there, the copper connectors get corroded and turn green, you need to clean them back to copper to eliminate an intermittent connection. Plus to help prevent it happening again you can add a generous dab of contralube to seal it.

Still trying to track down the rough running...so far I.ve changed the coil packs, HT leads, plugs, and both lambdas all to no avail.
I got Aides app and found that that at 1000 rpm the adaptive 1 was -4.3 and adaptive 2 13.9 both TP's around 15% but interestingly both InjA and InjB at 0.000?

Anyone got any ideas?

To set the throttles properly you need an airflow meter.
If you have replaced all of the ignition components and have used a meter then I can only think that you might have a cracked manifold?
(Plus, surely the idle tp values should be 18%?)

I was beginning to think that Aide...Given the above adaptive figures which side manifold do you suspect to be cracked?
Also any idea why the Inj A and B would read zero?

Cheers

Due to demands that we would not be taking the Cerb to Belgium with the sports exhaust on I have repaired and refitted the standard back box. With silenced decats I forgot what a civilised place the Cerb is on a fast motorway run!

Finally got the rack out, what an absolute bugger.

Like one of you guys have said, "give me a rear diff mount to change any day" at least you don't get covered in ATF and the odd drip of coolant that's been lurking.

Messing around on Belgian motorways with decat and standard back box is bliss smile

It's been weeping for a while, the drive back from Burghley confirmed it was time for a refurb as I could smell burning oil, decided to put her on the ramps and found the off side seal has totally gone, the oil was then finding its way onto the exhaust.
Once I get the rack back I think I'm going electric, the Saxo pump with the integral reservoir would be my choice, we'll see.

As with all things TVR, whilst you have it in bits and pieces you may as well attend to other put off jobs..... so whilst the coolant is out I'll remove the rad and replace the air con condenser/drier, have a go at fitting the electric valve that shuts off the water to the heater matrix and a few other tweaks here and there.

I went to change both lambda sensors, then this happened:

So I've only changed the dud sensor.

I also scraped some mud off it.

Good luck with the box.

Think I've got to the bottom of the rough running on the Cerb. Took it out for a run after changing the coil packs, plugs, leads and lambdas, suddenly there was an almighty bang and the exhaust note went up about 50 dBs!
The result was a gaping hole in the original backbox.
I reckon all the wadding inside had collapsed and blocked the outlet.

Booked in on Thursday for new sports boxes!
