Hi All

I've recently bought a secondhand 52-reg 1.2 SE with keyless ignition. When the air temp in the car gets high (as it has in the recent abnormally hot weather), the ignition barrel catches and is nigh-on impossible to turn. Following research online, the barrel has now been refurbished and lubricated with graphite powder. The fault has improved, but is still there so I'm thinking about replacing the barrel.

New ones are rather expensive and secondhand ones are hard to come by, so I was wondering whether it is possible to replace a keyless ignition with a standard keyed one. I'm not bothered about needing two sets of keys for the car (one for door opening and one for engine starting). If it is possible, is it simply a case of swapping one for the other or is it more complicated than that?

This isn't something I would be doing myself - I would get the part and ask my mechanic to do the work.

With thanks in advance
