Wondering if anyone can help as I haven't a clue when it comes to this stuff paperbag

My ex is looking for a new laptop which is suitable for gaming for our son, but as of yet anything he has suggested have been getting either crap reviews or simply just aren't suitable.

He's looking to spend £600/£650 max

Any advice, or recommendations?

Thanks

You'd get much more bang for buck with a gaming PC rather than a laptop.

Maybe posting this on the computers/gadgets and stuff forum you'll get better luck.

You'll struggle to get a 'good' gaming laptop for that money. It's possible they are just seriously expensive.
A desktop is a much better choice.

That said it depends on what games he wants to play. Minecraft, no problem - Call of Duty 93 with all the settings turned up, no chance.

As said, that budget will either let you build a reasonable gaming desktop, buy an entry level pre-made desktop, or a laptop which won't game well.

If any of you are technically minded, building can be fun and interesting - otherwise, something like this:

with the 270x graphics card and basic Windows 7 would combine very well with a 22-24" monitor and a basic keyboard/mouse.

If it needs to be a laptop then I'd try dell outlet - and XPS with a half decent GPU should be able to cope GT 640M at medium to high settings.
