John Deere Gator TA insurance

Afternoon all - I'm looking at getting a John Deere Gator TA (2006), as a utility/fun thing.

The one I'm looking at is road registered as an agricultural vehicle, which is good as it doesn't require an MOT and gets free road tax.

I assume though I will need insurance if i take it on the road - any clues who would insure such a thing??!!

I'm thinking NFU, but they have ALWAYS been over-priced on insurance in the past

You can insure it for road use through Aviva - Special Types Department.

My agricultural/road use equipment is insured for any driver and costs around £150 per year.

Oooh i'll give 'em a call thanks - the best ive had so far is £180 through a specialist farm equipment broker (who are probably using aviva!)

hmm. ok issue 2.

this is road registered as an "Agricultural Vehicle", but i'm going to need to use it more on the road than off. So i'll need to change the taxation class (although it still shouldnt need an MOT (?) )
