Can anyone help me please?

I am in desperate need of a whole new engine for my vauxhall corsa 1.2 sxi+ twinport 16v as my last one has seized. I have been looking everywhere for a couple of months and have found nothing and wondered if anyone on here would know where to look. It is 2005 (YC55 NXS)

Thanks

Jack

You could try egay...with extreme caution.

Or it's just a case of trying various breakers...again with caution

Then you have to consider whether the repair is economically viable in the first place. The car itself cant be worth a huge sum ?

It says "mine has seized".
Op beware there are a few people on Ebay trying to sell XE`s as XEP`s.
Last one I bought was only better than the one it replaced in the fact that it ran for five seconds before it shat itself.

Is it not worth weighing it in and just buying another car? The problem with these engines is that the chances are the replacement you buy will need a new timing chain kit and oil pressure sensor anyway so you might spend a couple of hundred on an engine, one or two hundred more for parts and fluids and then 6-8 hours labour on top and you will be close to the value of the car.

Tried posting on migweb or corsasport?
Most corsa owners ripping these smaller units out to put 2 litre engines in, surely someone will have one lying around.

Hello,

Thank you all for the response. I ended up buying an engine from '247 traders' but they were not reliable and kept messing us around saying they would send it and didn't. So a heads up anyone buying from them. Luckily, we got our money back so I am back to square one.

I will check out some of these places recommended. I do think its worth fixing because the car will still have more value than what I spend. It is a big pain but I know the history of the car. I have a good mechanic who is ready to fit the engine.

Thank you

247 is a parts finding service, the breaker who mucked you about is a subscriber.
Contact 247 with the reference number you were issued when you sent the request and complain to them.

Water valve came loose so all water leaked out and the engine wasn't getting any water. Seized up on the motorway suddenly.

I cant imagine cooking an engine up the motorway with no water to the point of seizure...would be sudden.

There would have been many warning signs of a problem.

Depends on the car I suppose, my sisters TT beeped at her when the water got too hot as the plastic water pump impeller sheared and she pulled over and called me who told her to leave it and have it recovered. A passing 'mechanic' told her that because the radiator was cold it couldn't possibly be overheating and she would be fine to drive it rolleyes
Other cars simply don't tell you other than the temp needle steadily rising, and you could generally be forgiven for not noticing that and that the the water was gone until the engine began to seize. Even then I bet the most common action is to give it more gas to get home until it went completely as not understanding the problem.
While you or I, and doubtless other mechanically minded PHers might spot the problem, my MiL has the same car and there is no way she would know or understand what was happening until the engine stopped dead.
Then no doubt my phone would ring...........

I would imagine there should be plenty of these engines knocking around. To be fair I don't think you would notice if you fitted a non twinport version - I imagine the external connections are identical between the two

The inlet manifolds and cylinder heads are different, the port design is massively different.
You cant fit the right water housing on to the head as top pipe fouls and the wiring and ecu are completely different.

To be honest the day before it happened I heard some ticking coming from the engine when I turned the car off. I just put this down to being too hot ( yes I should of checked ) and thought nothing of it. Next day it was ok until I heard the ticking again and suddenly boom lost all power and coasted off the motorway.

In terms of engine I know nothing about them all I seem to find is standard 1.2 corsa engines and not the twinport. I don't really know the differences and most engines I find do not state whether they are the correct one or not. Iv'e had a lot of quotes from brokers saying they have my engine but most of these are unreliable.
