Damn it, came home and discovered this small slit in the rear tire:

Doesn't appear to be going down but I guess I will know in the morning.

Keep an eye on the pressure in it the next few days could leak out rather slowly and catch you out. Certainly looks deep enough

If you can't see wire in it then don't worry.

Spit on it, is air coming out?

How do some of you manage to dress yourselves in the morning? hehe

A good thing to look out for is if the tyre is flat.

I can just about dress myself in the morning smile

This is my first one of these cuts or slits on a motorbike tire, had no idea what to think. First thing I did was spit on it and wait for bubbles smile you can see a small damp patch in the picture. No loss of air so probably okay.

no no no, you need to check the bottom of the tyre. That's where it usually goes flat wobble

soapy water works best, that's how you do air leakage tests on tanks, pipes etc. water doesn't really work as well.

check it periodically, just keep checking it, ride with this in mind. you should feel it though before it becomes un-ride able

Be mindful if the tyre does go down, the bike will become more upright and if its on the side stand, could go over the vertical and topple..(this doesnt just apply to S1000RRs..)

Id pop it on the centrestand if you have one..

Make sure you park the bike with the slit to the top, that will stop the air falling out the bottom

If it does go flat, just rotate the wheel so the flat bit is at the top, that should get you home...

I had something similar many years ago whilst on a trip to France on the front tyre of my ZX7RP1. It was much bigger than yours. I assume it was caused by perhaps a shard of glass or something similar. Bottom line is I filled it with superglue to stop it from tearing open. 2500 miles later I returned home and was all still okay. The slit width had diminished somewhat though
