I'm looking for a bit of advice. I have a collection of 1:43 F1 WDC cars all minichamps from 1992 upto 2011, i'm looking for models of older cars 50's 60's 70's etc. Which manufacturer should i be looking for to get a similar quality to minichamps? I prefer to try and get them with the tobacco liveries and a driver figure in if possible. Thanks

Onyx and Vittesse used to do historic cars. I have a small collection covering F1 cars dating from the late 1950s to the late 80s.

Not sure if any are in production these days. Based on my collection, it seems that it was OK to produce models in the full ciggie liveries for pre 1980s cars.

Brumm do a range of 1950s cars and some pre WW2 (i.e pre F1/WDC) GP cars too.

Do you know what the quality is like on the Brumm cars? I've seen a few Onyx models up close and i'm not keen on them to be honest

Spark and TSM do some very nice models and have drivers/cig sponsors (seperate decal sheet included for home application). Here are some Ronnies.

To be honest, Brumms can be a bit basic. However, I like them for what they are.

I think if you are looking for really good quality 1/43 GP or F1 cars going back to the start of GP racing, you are really looking at specialist kits or kits built up for you.

Have a look at Grand Prix Models website and you will see virtually any GP car there ever was available in kit or kit built form - it just depends on how much you want to pay. Some are very expensive.

Those are a bit out of my price range to be honest and I do not have the skills needed to build the Tameo kits to resemble anything like an F1 car.

All Spark really as Spark make the models for TSM and Planex, the wide body 76 (top right) is TSM, the 72, 77 and 78 Planex collection (Spark) and the narrow 76 and 79 are regular Spark.
