Visa Debit chargeback - any knowledgeable folks out there?
Discussion
Hi All, after some advice.
I've recently moved to a new house, and in our excitement regarding renovating the new property I may have made a pretty big error. We purchased some flooring from a wood flooring company, and were told the flooring would be delivered tomorrow (01/08/2014). I have since googled the company and found that they have a horrific track record of taking peoples money, not delivering the product, going into administration and restarting under an alternative name, They have recently gone into administration for the third time, although my purchase was through the new company which is still trading. I was due to get a call today to tell me what time the flooring would arrive tomorrow, but I heard nothing, hence my concern.
Stupidly I paid by debit card, and so was wondering if anyone knew anything about the Visa debit chargeback scheme, and if I have any chance of getting our money back using this. The flooring was £1500….so a not insubstantial sum of money.
Needless to say, all future purchases will be made by credit card!
All help and advice appreciated.

OK - this is really stressful having been worked over myself on something similar - bifolds from the Bognor area by a firm who may be Euro and Aluminium based nowdays. So some advise. 1) Don't be fobbed of by the supplier. 2) Don't wait, 30 days after agreed delivery bang your claim into the card provider. They are jointly responsible.
Mine card provider (and employer at the same time) said 'oh, you want your deposit back' and I said 'no, the whole amount for which you too are liable'. Seems they were not up on section 75 or trying to weasel out at the first call.

That would be Section 75 of the Consumer CREDIT Act ? Curiously - it only applies to CREDIT cards, not DEBIT cards.Mine card provider (and employer at the same time) said 'oh, you want your deposit back' and I said 'no, the whole amount for which you too are liable'. If they haven't delivered today without good reason then contact your bank.
The bank I work for have generally been very supportive of the customers I've put forward to the department who deal with such scenarios. The amount is more than usual but i would like to think that the bank will be very supportive IF the transaction isn't fulfilled.
