Thinking of taking the 928 over to the ring. Any recommendations for routes stop offs or any other tips?

If crossing North sea rather than channel PO Ferries Hull crossings are usually way cheaper than DFDS Newcastle crossing

The Newcastle crossing has traditionally been about £100 more than the Hull for us but depending on what your driving it saves a lot in fuel/time/miles on the car and it avoids the traffic in Belgium the other side which can be horrendous at times.

If you plan to do it all in one go and can be bothered with the UK driving, the ferry from Dover to Calais/Dunkirk should be the cheapest route with fuel taken into account depending on how good/bad your economy is - for reference it was easily cheaper in a pair of M3s. Did the Amsterdam-Newcastle ferry this time out and it's a much easier drive, was around £300 for a single crossing though and the cabin was pretty dirty.

If you do it the Dover way, have a look at the Tunnel as well - if you're driving down overnight and end up on the Tunnel before 8am or later at night it's pretty reasonable, and so much quicker and easier than the ferry and a lot friendlier to low cars.

Have you looked at accomodation? Hotel an der Nordschleife is great as it's so close to the track at Breidscheid, so ideal for chilling out with a few beers and watching the TF. It's about a 15 min walk to restaurants and pubs in Adenau (definitely go to Pinocchios) and they'll let you use a garage. Stayed at the Hotel am Tiergarten last month for a change and it was great too, much busier bar as it's attached to the Pistenklause restaurant which is excellent. Only 2 mins drive from the main car park, cost 100 Euros a night for a room for 2 inc. breakfast.

Hi, I completed a 3000 mile Euro trip in May from Glasgow using the Newcastle Ferry that completed with a day at the ring and a stay at the excellently located and atmospheric Tiergarten. The driving time and fuel saved made it a no brainier for me rather than using any of the more southern ferry ports. Dinner, drinks and a good nights kip and breakfast before the 0930 docking were also an upside. Amsterdam to the ring is an easy drive and beyond that Stuttgart or the Black Forest add something else to view.
