I'm seriously worried about booking a test drive in an A45 because I rather suspect that I'm going to want one....!

Pretty sure that I'm going to sell the C63 in the next couple of months (keep changing my mind on start up though!), and feel like testing out an A45, I'm fairly sure it won't work for me, but it looks like a blast, and I want a go!

I know a few are thinking about/have changed from a C63, so thoughts?

I've looked over the used prices on Autotrader, and I'm basically seeing people selling them for the almost new price, which is already way over priced. Of the 6 on autotrader, the cheapest is by Mercedes, which is already saying something!

ps. whats a 10 plate decent spec C63 worth? the price range out there is crazy!

Ecain63 has just gone from a c63 to an A45, he doesn't seem to be complaining!

I'd do the test drive, at the very least you'll know how the car runs, and you may opt for an alternative (CLA 45 pops to mind)

Spend the money on tuning the C63 and you won't want to change.

Saying that the little 45 is a great package......however it's not a 63........and I just couldn't be with out that sound on start up and blip on downshifts wink

They are obviously very different animals and there are probably times when whichever one you were in, you'd wish you were in the other. C63 S/C would be my choice out of the two I think. smile

Just picked mine up tonight. Not disappointed! Interior trim is top notch compared to C63. Its a bit lazier on the throttle but im only running it in. Having driven obe with decent mielage I am looking forward to mine loosening up and having full use of the loud pedal. Sports exhaust is excellent too. Seats are even better than the C63 and it feels far more responsive and pointy up front. Im really looking forward to getting to know this car!

I miss the V8 pop, bang and grumble, but this little rocket is so much fun. Like a little rally car.

They sound great on the up shift. Still didn't sound great just moving slowly around the car park at the AMG event or on startup compared to all the v8s but still a great car.

He actually preferred the A45. He only preferred the M135i price tag. Did you watch the vid? I prefer the AMG, hence.......

I watched it at the weekend and im pretty sure Mr H said he loved the A45 all bar the price. The gearbox was better in the BMW but that was it. Not important though really, i'm sure the real world differences are negligible.

Reason for change: Just felt the need for something new after having 18 months of really enjoyable ownership. My car was really low miles, great spec and a rarer colour so i knew i'd sell it quick and for a decent price. Also, a little bird tells me that AMG are due to release the figures and specs for the new C63 / Cxx anytime now. The first dealer test drives (AMG sales teams) are in October along with the tests of the new GT. I think this is taking place at Ascari! With that my 'man in the know' predicts that used C63 prices are going to fall through the floor very shortly and if i were to sell then now would be the time. He was right and i only lost 10% of the cars value after 18 months and 11k miles. Base spec C63's are already shedding value at an alarming rate so shifting my PPP now was a good idea. The A45 is being trickle fed onto the system and used values are as strong as new ones and having been offered a top spec one straight off the boat i should stand in a good position once the new PPP C63 / Cxx comes to the market in 2 years time. That's when i'll hop back to V8s-ville. That's my man maths predition anyway.

The figures have worked for me in almost every car ive owned. Always managed to sell at the right time.

2003 Mitsi L200: Bought for £3600 and sold for £3600 when the floods were causing havoc in 2007.
2005 Mitsi Shogun Warrior: Bought for £6k and sold for £7k when the snow came in 2009.
2003 RS6 Avant (Plus spec): Bought for £16k and sold for £14k 2 years later during a popularity boom.
2007 E61 M5: Bought for £27k and sold to head of Big Talk Productions for £24k as he was after a minter amongst a market of dogs. Warranty saved me £12k over those 2 years of ownership too.

I just watched the good old C63 F1 medical car video earlier and just watched this... oh well, it is a four cylinder after all biggrin

I agree on the interior quality though, sat in a fully optioned A250 AMG with the woven 3D carbon-fiber-ish dash trim (not sure if the A45 has the same) and sports seats a year ago and it looked and felt VERY special and expensive.

Ill take some pics of mine inside over the weekend.

I got black and red leather seats with red perforations (front and back). Leather dash and door cards with red stitching. Carbon weave effect dash, comand screen. Red seat belts. Makes my C63 interior look cheap and dated.

This is one of the reasons I sold mine. I feared a big depreciation hit towards the end of the year.

Nope and a bit of a wait on new builds. If you can find a new one at a dealer you might get a couple of hundred quid off but I reckon that's all. I didn't get much off even with having a mate in charge of a dealership.

Loving the new car though. A real refreshing change from the C63 despite the lack of V8. Cracked 400 miles in it today so hoping to get beyond the run in by the end of the week.
