An early morning drive in my old TVR was spoiled by a very fat pigeon that landed on the road ahead of me. I couldn't avoid hitting it at c70mph and luckily the only damage is a broken number plate. The plate is still complete but cracked badly. It would be easy to replace the plate but having bought the car new and maintained it in original condition I want a matching plate. The original dealer has gone out of business. Anyone know of a company that can restore or replicate plastic number plates?

There are a few classic plate people who can give you a period-correct type of plate for any year. Often have a mobile service at the larger classic car shows so you can get one there and then.

Do you mean a new plate with the correct pre 2001 font or one with the actual dealer information on it?

These specialise in Ford but may be able to help :

No experience of dealing with them personally however
