Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me find the 'ghost road' in keighley, I think it's somewhere near east morton school, supposedly if you stop your car on the hill it will roll UP it on it's own? Anyone ever heard of it? Or been there?

Don't know of this road but there's a famous one in Scotland known as 'Electric Brae'. There are several youtube videos which are quite amusing, make sure you have the speakers on for this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGqOYbeTaqs

I've never heard of the 'ghost road' at East Morton although all the roads in and around Keighley are scary, but for entirely different reasons!!

I have, however, suffered from strange, disappearing golf balls at East Morton Golf Club. wink

These roads are called gravity or magnetic roads-an optical illusion that makes it seem that you are frewheeling uphill. There are 4 in England but none in Gods own county.google list of gravity roads wikipaedia

I'd imagine "wikipaedia" is best avoided unless you're hooking onto a neighbour's wifi that you don't like...

Rach - I lived in east Morton for some time and know the area pretty well. Never heard of such a road in the area.

Well, I've lived in East Morton for many years now and know all those roads very well. I've never heard that particular tale and never noticed any such optical illusions. The only sinister goings on up the Keighley Gate road involve either joy riders burning cars out in the middle of the night or doggers turning up without a dog for some strange reason......

If it's Ilkley road it comes off Silsden road and goes up to Keighley gate not a long road and most of it is up hill so shouldn't be too difficult to find the spot, if it's there.

Yeah it is ilkley road off silden road as you go over the little bridge thing it's the next small hill it's hard to explain where but you should manage to find it if you keep stopping randomly and switching your engine off lol sorry I can't be more specific smile
