I have sold a few pricey (to me) cars in my time and I have usually had a warranty on them at sale time not expecting to sell without one, figuratively at £20k plus) one exception being my SL55 Merc but I took it to a dealer for a health check and had this to show buyers.

I have always liked S8`s but for one reason or another have never bought one however a lazy browse on the Trader threw up a top top $ Sepang Blue perfect car (2009, B&O, under 50k miles) not many about and a future classic ?

Serviced, taxed with short MOT I asked the seller "any warranty" nope no warranty he is driving it on his self funded warranty.

So a Audi warranty is £1600 after an inspection, I already think the seller wont be arsed putting on a warranty but he still expects top $

I am sitting here contemplating asking him to do this - or he could flog it to WBAC for £25k

This car has been discussed on a8parts forum - rare colour combo but pre-3g nav and probably been sat around pre registration. Photo locations don't help its cause either - not exactly gravel gated drive territory lol

Don't know that anyone's viewed it but consensus agrees it's overpriced

It has oblong not round fogs - doesn't that show the facelift?

I was on the train when I typed the above and didn't see your reply before I corrected it! Yes, square fogs are facelift, but the much improved MMI 3G rather than MMI 2G didn't come in till 2009, so as this car doesn't have it it's likely to be a 2008 early facelift so will have the later style rear lights.

Thanks, it's not for me - I like a warranty and if it was £25k with an Audi warranty then ok but it's not.

You should keep an eye out - there are bargains to be had - I don't know if audi still have it but they had a Audi S8 2008 facelift model with only 30k odd miles, FASH and a few options but not much - it looked spotless but the problem for me was ceramic brakes - I am not shy to high servicing costs but 3k a corner for discs is mental. even if one got damaged on the off chance or a couple needed to be rpelaced I would be pissed.

For some it won't matter and many may even desire the option as they are excellent - It was up for 22k only 1 month back

I bought an S8 and also an enhanced warranty but to be honest I would never be a car with a warranty again as like most insurance they are useless. My steering rack failed on the M25 leading to an engine out fix at Audi. "Wear and tear" said the warranty. Everything is wear and tear so what is the point of the warranty.

For me, any future purchase I will set aside a fund for fixing and save money on the useless bit of paper that is a warranty.

Or buy from a franchised dealer with real warranty

S8s are just not sold in main dealer network. I've seen only one in the past two years. Good luck finding one. You are also then paying way over the odds so it is a moot point really.

Simple fact to remember with cars, anything can go wrong at any time. If you couldn't afford to fix it you're probably should look to buy something cheaper. If nothing goes wrong, bonus!
