I'm really looking forward to the results and feedback from others on here too. I know I'm biased (the Sharkwerks has been on my car for 3 years now and I still enjoy the way it sounds) but I think the feedback will be very good indeed.

Any experiences of the Akrapovic system on a 997.2 Carrera/S/GTS?

Here's a couple of clips of the Akropovic

Certainly sounds aggressive! Demon Tweeks supply the exhaust but pricing says 'from' £2289. It is a lot of money for a cat back. For not a huge amount more, that gets you the manifold and decat too.

Anyway, where's this clip we're waiting for!!

Thanks!

I think it's fair to say that there are a number of good options. Would love to hear some of these in real life. If anybody is in central London (W1) with any of these exhausts I would love to hear!

I drive a GTS and am leaning towards the Sharkwerks bypass. I haven't heard the Innotech/Akrapovic on the street but they sure sound great - agree that the high-pitched Innotech sounds fantastic.

Paid $795, which in current exchange rate is c. £470. Was about £100 to ship over.

Paragon are just charging by the hour so it will be somewhere between £200-400
Nero44, have you had this installed yet?

Hi, it will be done this week I hope.

Not sure if I will get to get much on here in next couple of weeks - fly over weekend to Singapore for a week, and the GP....!

Well slightly later than planned, it has been fitted. Took the car to Paragon yesterday and looked at the part - as it was sent direct to them. They were very impressed with workmanship. Pick up the car tomorrow evening so will give a full report but thought I'd add a couple of pics

When I spoke to them this avo, asked for their initial feedback and they were extremely positive. Hope to be as impressed!

(oh and the Singapore GP was epic!)

I thought the point was that you didn't have to remove the rear bumper?

In theory you don't have to. But it only takes about 20-30 minutes to remove the rear PU and heat shields (and that's at home on my drive). Doing so gives you all-round access to all the exhaust components. On balance, it's a lot quicker (and a whole lot easier) doing the job this way.

Trying to extract exhaust components downwards from behind all that rear bumper hardware is a absolute PITA by comparison (unless you happen to be a gynaecologist) biggrin

Well picked her up this evening. First impressions... awesome! What a fantastic noise. Reminds me of my Leo Vince system on my Honda SP2. Wonderfully deep sound, but you can still hear the high pitched whirr of the engine. Mrs was following me and she just said it was very loud!

And the beauty, with PSE on (or off depending on which way you look at it) is that it's quiet when you want it to be.

Adds so much to the car, to me at least. Feels a little more responsive on the throttle too. Well worth it and highly recommended.

Sounds good. Can you confirm the total cost including shipping and VAT/import duty etc. How much did Paragon charge to fit it ?

Thanks

Just ordered the Sharkwerks muffler bypass for my 997.2 GTS and hope to receive it next week - Video's sounds great and in my opinion even with the PSE valves open the stock GTS just doesn't offer enough soul. After speaking with Sharkwerks the decision was an easy one!

Looking at it I don't expect the swap over to take much longer than an hour or so with the car on a ramp.

Will keep you all posted....

LOL - don't pick the GTS up until Wednesday afternoon from 911V and already spending!

Great to hear the feedback! Nero, would you be OK to meet up? I notice you're in Kent so pretty local. I would love to hear in person if you're up for it.

Great to know I'm not the only one who really likes this setup. There is a tiny improvement in performance too, I agree. It tends to be most noticeable right at the top of the rev range where the standard centre silencer is most restrictive.

I also noticed from the pics that the Sharkwerks pipe design has changed slightly since I bought mine - in particular the 2 'pylons' welded between the individual pipes. I'm thinking Alex probably did this to remove the resonance around 3000rpm that's noticeable in the 'Mk1' version, especially when cold? Hope he'll comment.....

I just spent a very worthwile 10 mins listening/watching the Sharkwerks vid on Drive+......fk me sideways that is one great sounding car. I know there's a lot more to that car than the exhaust but it's incredibly impressive.

We fitted the Sharkwerks exhaust to my GTS on Monday afternoon and all I can say is WOW! With the exhaust on standard quiet setting it isn’t a great deal louder – maybe 10% better than the original system but once you open the system valves it sounds glorious. Almost dare I say like a 997 GT3 which is definitely no bad thing. Drove the car last night with the valves open and had a permanent smile on my face as it now sounds like I wanted & envisaged my first 911 to sound. So very impressed with quite possibly my only modification that I will be doing! There is no resonance or unpleasant sounds and the advantage of the switchable system is a real plus point now as previously I didn’t feel it offered enough difference.

In summary I fully recommend it and if you are ever in the Nantwich / Cheshire area you are more than welcome to have a listen.

We do import a lot of products from the States and i'm considering putting a batch of these GTS Sharkwerks systems into stock here at ABP. PM me if you are interested as it will be cheaper than buying directly wink

The OPC I spoke to (Chester) said that changing the mid-silencer would only effect the extended warranty on the associated exhaust components and not the rest of the car.

Next the alignment…. We are just so busy its fitting it into the workshop to get done!

Hi Chris, when you say the valves open/closed. Do you mean with the standard PSE installed on your GTS?
