I have driven a d5 manual. So comfy.
Wondered what these are like on fuel,running costs, reliability, known probs etc

I'm presuming you mean the newer P3 models.
The 2.4D is in fact the old D5 engine. The new version being a twin turbo.

Bomb proof reliability as far as I know although, being a heavier car than the older P2 models, the MPG suffers slightly.

P1= 1997-2000
P2= 2000-2007 (although there's a crossover of a few months at each end)
P3= 2007-present

Getting 40 MPG mixed driving from mine. 45-48 MPG possible on a run with sensible driving. Excellent car.

£10,500 for a 58 plate v70 ?? That's hardly cheap.

Mileage is fairly average for a 6 year old car and the auto box isn't nearly as reliable (or economical) as the spanish. Reckon that's about £2500 over book.

Manual 2.4D 2008, getting 43-50 on motorways.

2009 SE V70 2.4D with 55K and I paid 10K from a dealer.

The post 2007 auto boxes are much better. It's the earlier ones that suffered.

You'll get 50ish on a run - reliability is a strong point compared to many other modern diesels
