I've been using one of the USN ones from GNC and it tasted really good. The vanilla was just like cake mixture and the chocolate was really chocolatey. So impresses was I that I went in and bought the USN GF1 in large tubs today, expecting it to taste the same.

It doesn't.

The vanilla isn't dreadful but not a patch on the other stuff and I now notice it's "vanilla cream". I also note that the chocolate one is "chocolate cream" so I am expecting that to be equally lacklustre.

Having been caught out I am going to be far more careful when I run out (may be some time). I was thinking about giving Bulk Powders a look. Can anyone recommend any of their flavours?

I got caught out with this once when I bought Strawberry and Cream rather than Strawberry and it was so sickly!

Can't comment on Bulk Poweders but MyProtein Chocolate Smooth is loooovely.

Try muscle Pharm. their cookies and cream is dangerously tasty IMO, especially when mixed with skim milk. A few others are good too. Dunno about elsewhere in the world but costco sell it cheap in the US. Think I'm on tub number 6 now and only just starting to get bored of it - thankfully their other favors are really good too from what I've tried.

If you're in the UK I always found PhD to be amongst the better tasting brands. Their mint chocolate is lovely.

Salt has improved the vanilla a lot. I sprinkled a bit of pink salt into it this morning and it has taken on a porridge sort of flavour.

Bulk Powders chocolate peanut and chocolate cookies are nice.

I did buy a tub of Powerbeck chocolate which tastes like a McDonalds milkshake, however I've found recently that it's making me feel sick (probably the excess of sweeteners laugh )

Ones I avoid are Maximuscle - expensive and tastes like off-cheese

TheProteinWorks - good price and mixes well but seems to leave a chemical aftertaste in my mouth

Chocolate peanut sounds nice. Will look into that.

I like whey shakes, they make me feel like I am eating something naughty.

Chocolate Mint Brownie from The Protein Works is lovely. Tastes a bit like After Eight

If you use that referral code you'll get £5 off a £15+ order and £5 for me biggrin

Choc peanut tastes similar to the snickers / marathon bars smile

I concur with the above about PHD, I've tried many brands and keep going back to PHD.

Unflavoured + Nesquick is unbeatable for taste.

I prefer unflavoured plus my own flavouring (usually fresh fruit). Also means you can buy a huge bulk pack and not be stuck with the same flavour if you fancy a change.

Without intending to hijack the thread much, can anyone suggest a first whey protein for myself to get? Something low calorie, tasty enough and above all good value.
I'd first try it out in a smaller batch then if I find I get along well with it I'll buy it in larger quantities.

I've tried loads of different ones over the years. IMO nothing comes close to CNP pro peptide chocolate.
I could drink it all day long!

The ON Gold Standard stuff is reasonable value and I either have the Vanilla or Double Rich Chocolate.

Also mixes well in a shaker. Some brands get really lumpy.

Another vote here for PhD, although I'm now intrigued by flavourless with nesquik

PHD is wonderful stuff smile My wife had some white chocolate flavoured powder and it was sublime.

I tend to avoid the fruit flavoured ones tbh as these can be seriously hit and miss imo.

It tastes like nesquick but better because the whey thickens it.

Ooh I'm not so sure. I bought a great big bag of the stuff and am struggling with it. It reminds me of sweet cardboard. I got three other flavours as samples and to make up the order and I am not keen on any of them. They also seem to mix up a bit thin.

I personally prefer the QNT and USN stuff.
