Yeah I signed up over a year ago now and had some success meeting the ladies.... In fact had a first date with one almost a year today and we're very much an item now. Just returned from a holiday with her and our kids and didn't murder each other so alls good - I think lolI am looking for a long term relationship rather than a quick fling.

IME Tinder, etc people are not looking for a quick fling - they are looking to meet someone....whether that goes beyond one drink/night depends on the person, not the means of meeting. SUre, Tinder users may be more inclind to jump into the one night quicker......but it doesnt mean they wont stick around if its good. Same as meeting someone in a bar.I am looking for a long term relationship rather than a quick fling.

I agree, for me, out of all the online dating sites Tinder is the most like meeting someone in a bar. I met my girlfriend on Tinder and we have been together for over a year now. I know 4 people who met their partner through online dating and every single one of those met through Tinder.Before this I spent a year on POF and from my experience the quality of women on Tinder is way higher than POF. I found that most of the women on POF seemed to be your typical council house, overweight, 2 children, divorced, rubbish/no job type of women but were searching for someone so far out of their league it was hilarious. Most of these women had been on POF for years but it had still not registered that they had zero hope of finding the type of guy they were after.
I also found that with POF you had virtually no chance of the woman you met looking anything like the photos on her profile. The photos would either be photoshopped, professional photos, 5 years+ out of date or the one photo in 10,000 where they looked OK. You always had to be wary if there were only head shots as it always means they are overweight (you only fall for that one, once).
Most of the women on POF are utterly in denial and think that by putting up old photos and having a profile full of selection criteria a good looking, wealthy man is going to want to support her and her two children. The fact that she is bringing nothing to the table and these type of guys are off banging hot 25 year olds does not seem to register with them.
Oh and if they put not into one night stands that is not true in my experience. What also amazes me is how few of them are bothered if you use a condom. Anyone would think they are looking to get pregnant and trap a guy.....

Many of them haven't paid for it at all, which is why some of them don't then continue to use it or take it all that seriously.They also get quite a bit of crap on there, and that puts them off too. I don't mean crap as in crap matches - I mean persistence, abuse, etc.

Well I'm single again.
Previous experience of online dating (pof, match, tinder) led to a lot of dating, sex, a fair few mentals but nothing long term. I think because of the "always something better round the corner mentality it creates". Last one was a random, met through friends, got on really well and led to over a year relationship, just too many issues for it to work so went our separate ways.
Now left wondering, is it worth trying online again, or is it better to stick to tried and tested methods?
