Isotropic Polishing / 'Superfinishing'
Discussion
We use shot peened and REM superfinished gears and had great results, we had a problem with 2nd gear failure that could not be changed due to homologation issues and since having the specific ratio treated have not had another failure. We had the work done by a company called Sandwell.

Were the gears shot peened first? Or different processes on different gears? Thanks.Edited by 99hjhm on Sunday 10th August 18:04

Do the gears engage smoother at all? The reason I ask is that i'm about to rebuild a bike engine and there are many words to describe Triumphs' joke of a gearbox and none of them are repeatable in polite company. I've thought about this in the hope it will help smooth the gearchanges a bit.
