That one track.
Discussion
Everyone has one, the track that makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck - that gives you a pleasant feeling or even brings a tear to your eyes. Not for sentimental reasons but because it just makes you stop in your tracks.
This post is because of this -

Heart perform Stairway to Heaven
Which was posted in the performances that chill you to the bone in the TV & Film section.
If a performance brings a tear to the eye of Robert Plant, it's good enough for me.
Here's one of mine, maybe an odd choice, but...
Goldfrapp.

I had a couple a few years ago, but they're out the window now.
They were both LostProphets songs - the first was 'Last Summer' which my G/F at the time and I used to sing at the tops of our voices in the car, and the second was 'I Don't Know' which I had down as my 'funeral song...'
And then Ian Watkins, the singer of Lost Prophets went down for Paedophilia, and me and my G/F split up. It's safe to say I'll never listen to those tracks again!!
I'm now favouring 'The White Lies - Farewell to the Fairground' as my funeral track....it still makes me go a bit funny.
But for me, the ultimate 'spine tingler' which hasn't changed since I first heard it in 1999 - is Metallica's 'No Leaf Clover'
They did a small number of gigs playing alongside the San Fransisco Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the late Michael Kamen, and this is one of the tracks from the resulting album, S&M.
The arrangements of the orchestra work well for some of their existing songs, and maybe not so well for others.
However, the track 'No Leaf Clover' was written with the orchestra in mind, and so I think that the arrangement between Metallica's instruments and the orchestra work amazingly well together.
The song builds beautifully, and the last part of the song's chorus especially, when I listen to it on my Hifi system at a decent volume, makes me go REALLY funny....it's so weird to look at my arms and all the hairs standing up with loads of goose-pimples! I think if I had been lucky enough to have been there on the night itself, I probably would have just passed out completely, lol!

After recently discovering a long-lost recording of a R1 Essential Mix, this currently ticks all the hair-on-end boxes :
Brancaccio & Aisher - Darker
Everything is just so; the harmonies, the chords, the rhythms, the loops. Trance perfection.

I like The White Lies too, farewell to the fairground was the first track of theirs that I heard.
There are so many tracks that could be 'that' track, all depends on the time and feelings at the time.
But I suppose its this : http://youtu.be/lDGi0SZkgpI
Partly how frank it is and the way its put together, just works.
Saw this guy recently, how exactly he manages to play three different instruments at different tempos to each other the same time utterly baffles me, you just had to continue watching in case he made a cup of tea mid song or something. http://youtu.be/C3YZansyYRU

Absolute CORKER of a performance! Personally, as I get old and decrepit I have become convinced that the greatest love song of my entire lifetime is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjxhwNrhIgA
Rory "I Fall Apart"
For me, Happiness is: Daughtry - Home * 18 Years. Me and my best friend used to sing it everywhere we could; and still do now in the car.
Sadness is: Aerosmith - I don't wanna miss a thing. It was played at my friends funeral who died of cancer when we were both 15 5 years ago. Still gets me today.
And the song that makes me wanna go for a hoon the most is: We own it, Wiz Khalifa (From The Fast And The Furious)
Great songs.
