Just been watching an epic drive by Danny Winstanley at Brands in the Caterham R300 - it was on the box this morning.
Started plum last on the grid due to problems in race 1, overtook every lap to finish up second. Just goes to show what a difference the driver makes in identical cars.....

Hi Anthony, yes, I watched this to, Great racing.
Have been at Anglesey all weekend watching the DTEC, it's a triple header, some great close racing there as well, despite the weather.

Thanks for the links. I have watched race one so far - what broke the engine?
Looks like huge fun. Is it very different from racing the TVR?
The one make format really appeals to me, as you are measuring your driving skill against your fellow racers.

The speeds are fairly similar to my TVR on a track day I guess - I am due a Brands day this summer, so will check. I was up to 120 mph at Cadwell Park last week, and cornering close to 100 mph in places. I just don't have other cars showing quite so much determination to eat my mudguards!

It was a bottom end failure, the engine has spent 3 seasons bouncing off the limiter so we can't complain, the best bit is Caterham carry spare engines, they cost £3700 band new complete with dry sump( you can draw £1200 for your old one as long as its not thrown a rod )

Danny says its very similar to the Tuscan, just mechanical grip and moves around a lot,

It's great close racing, and controlled very strictly, ecu read before and after, car weighed, cambers checked, fuel sampled ect, times are similar on some circuits Brands they were 50.03 s but remember we are on road legal A1 tyres, and they cost £430 a set in vat

Well done Danny. You are a class act and that is irrefuttable. The entire TVR racing community are soooo proud of you.

Nice Tuscan Challenge car for sale with newly rebuilt AJPV8 (ex factory celebrity car use only, that incidentally cost more than twice as much as your brand new one). Savvy move going the route you did. More racing, balls out every time, less cost. AJP's getting through less than 2 short racing seasons between rebuilds now, each rebuild at £?????:00
Very smart. Go get 'em Tiger!
