Warm the old badge up with a hair dryer. This will soften the glue.

Didn't think it would be glued on thought it may have some sort of clips pushed in to plastic

Was nothing like that on the Monaro one, altho I left the silver mount on there and just peeled the VX part off.

Yup, it's not just glued in. The centre has an 'interference fit' small peg. You really want to get it off complete and not have the peg snap off inside the airbag assembly and being a potential plastic bullet..........

yeah, this is right, the vxr8 had 3 small pegs, I worked mine out with 2 flat head screwdrivers, the rubber overlaps the face of the badge by about 4mm all round and this is what makes it so hard to get out.

Must be different on the R8 then. No pegs & just glued on the Monaro.

I have tried a search through old posts etc, and after looking at the images of the stick on badges is there a better option for changing the badge on the airbag?

Best option I have found so far is a second hand HSV VZ airbag which would work out at circa £185
I have just bought a complete HSV VZ airbag with badge in mint condition from New Zealand for $150.

I'm flying over there to pick it up yes

But that won't be till Febuary when I go there for a months holiday.
So I suppose it's really the most expensive steering wheel badge "IN THE WORLD"

You win! :-)

How are you getting it back though? Not sure it will work as carry on!

Hopefully bring it back in the suitcase if not then my cousin has an export business and he will send it over with one of his consignments but that would be a month or so later, so maybe land it at the latest, April ish frown

Are you flying Saddam Hussein Airlines :-)

Probably classed as explosives, the one I found was AU$110 but they can only sea freight them due to regulations.
