Any recommendations?

Doesn't have to be by the sea but that would be a bonus. We plan on spending 7-10 days here and want to see most of the county so a good location for travelling about is a must as well...

Only 2 of us - so I don't mind if it is small. Also would consider a log cabin or something more quirky?

Thoughts?

Deer Park near liskeard is nice, quiet, easy enough to travel around and some of them have hot rubs for evening relaxing!

I saw this. Is the parking by your cabin?

Yes you park right by them.

We go once or twice a year for a weekend getaway. Take some disposable barbecues and lots of food and beer!!

The majority of it is yes. There are a few cabins that use a layby (if you can call it that) but only a few steps from your cabin door (cabins 23,24 & 25 definitely). We went a few years back and it was in need of being renovated despite them advertising it had been done.

I think they have got very expensive of late though. And take a torch, it's blooming dark, and I mean pitch black, if you take a walk down to the retreat of an evening and want to find your way back to your cabin.

Stayed with these people and they offer some nice out of the way places http://www.cornwallscottages.co.uk/cottages/bethel...

I absolutely adore this place:

Need to book well in advance but well worth it. Stunning. Not flash, but the place is magical. Only downside is that it is right at the arse end of Cornwall in terms of driving.
