Hi guys,
Pre-cat 4.3 Griff 1992.
Just doing pre MOT check and have found that the hazard flashers only work on one side. The indicators work fine both sides, I need a clue as to where to start looking for the problem and what checks to try.

Thanks.

As EX Auto sparks, your TVR being Pre Cat should have normal wiring at rear of "Hazard" switch, get behind switch...some just pull out of dash, TVRs fitted various switches, you should see colure "Red with Green tracer LH indicators...and wire "Green with White tracer RH indicators, operate "Hazards" and thes 2 wires should be flashing with test lamp, if one not then , remembering what wire not flashing...turn off "Hazards"...now operate normal indicators side to side...these 2 colures should be lighting...if so you have faulty "Hazard" switch..may come back to life with spray of contact cleaner. If of couse still one curcuit not at swith...then you have wiring break somewhere. Peter.

I had a hazards problem recently but it was switch and fuse related, see here:

If indicators are OK you may need to check the two hazard relays on the bulkhead behind the dash, see the 'bible' for a circuit diagram. It's a dash out job I'm afraid.

Good luck.

My car is not a pre-cat but I can reach the relays by removing the glove-box. In fact you may be able to see them with the glove-box open.

I'm not sure on the pre-cat location, but there are:

3 relays
The flasher/timer timer relay that works each combination of L indicator / R indicator / hazards

A relay to engage L side for Hazards
Another relay to engage R side for Hazards

If L & R turns work, but only one side flashes with hazards (you're description as I read it) then probably the relay shot or wiring behind it.

Had a similar problem where the flashers worked from the stalks but hazards wouldnt (or was it the other way around). Turned out to be a one way diode taped in the wiring loom. I think its oabve the battery somewhere but mine wasn't hence the £300 labour bill and I had to buy 5 as the minimum order value was £1!!
Not sure if you have the same issue if its only one side not working.
