Calling all owners of Fiesta ST's

I'm considering a Fiesta ST as a daily driver. What sort of MPG are you getting? Is 40mpg achievable on a run? I could live with an average of around 35mpg.

Also does the car need super or can it be run on regular unleaded?

While you wait for replies from ST owners i can give you a little bit of info that might be helpful.
My Focus that i owned for almost 2 years and only traded in recently had the same engine thats fitted to the Fiesta ST.
I found it to be one of the most fuel efficient cars i have ever owned, and was at least equal to the 1.4 Honda Civic it replaced but with over twice the power.
I dont know how the gear ratios are set up on the Fiesta, but with my Focus i could easily get mid-high 30's around town and high 40's - low 50's on a longer open road journey.
The engine is designed to run on regular 95RON unleaded.

I've had my ST for 1 year now and get around 38mpg on my daily commute, which is mostly urban but no stop start and a couple of miles on a dual carriageway. I'm 40 now so dont have the need to thrash it everywhere, but I do give it the beans on a regular basis. Its done 5000 miles now and the average for my last few fill ups has been around 40mpg, really quite impressive for nearly 200bhp!

Along with my old ST220, probably the best all round car I've ever had. If you get one you wont be disappointed.

I managed 48mpg on a trip from York to windermere and back last year in mine, but thats not really what the new st is all about, im 30 and do like to give it the beans sometimes but even when being heavy with the right foot it still averages 30mpg.

Get one bought ive had two now!

My daily average is a bit less at approx 35-38. I guess this is due to constant stop and start traffic.

Ive seen 48mpg sitting with ruise control at 60mph on A roads, I average 33-34mpg on my commute (no stop start traffic) which is 80 mile round trip from Fraserburgh to Aberdeen, great A-roads and not too much traffic, the little ST gets thrashed most days, it's what I bought it for biggrin

You certainly must be giving it a damn good thrashing to get down that low on those 2 A roads. biggrin

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like the fuel economy is perfectly acceptable for a daily driver.

It certainly does, I car share, so drive every second day. I got bored of my last car (mapped Leon FR CR TDI DSG) that could easy do over 50mpg, but I averaged 37-38. Considering that, I think getting 34mpg with my driving style is great, I'am just lucky I get to drive my car how it should be driven very often.

When autumn comes and into winter I'll go back to sitting with the rest of the traffic and get 45mpg +. No way I'am risking driving quick when it's cold and wet.

I live in SW London / Surrey. I only had my little ST2 for 4 months and did 2300 miles. It managed 35mpg in that time. On the same journeys my previous car, a BMW E92 LCI 330d managed 37mpg.

On a run it easily went to 40mpg.

Given the car was from new I think that economy was absolutely great for a car that was 6.4 to 60 (mine had the MP215 Mountune Ford fitted power upgrade).

I got rid of the car as I couldn't get used to the seats - certainly nothing to do with the superb engine, performance or fuel economy !

I'm managing about 37.5mpg (indicated), that's mainly on the motorway (clicked over 11,000 at the weekend), Shell V-Power fuel & Mountune kit fitted.

40.2mpg over 300 miles but still running in, being in mind the cost difference of petrol compared to diesel it is a win win, especially as it has a nice engine note!

Seats is the one thing that I'm worried about. I guess time will tell.
