broadband only deal recommendations
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm sure it's been asked before but I'd like to ask it again, does anyone currently have a BB only deal they can recommend?
I'm sick to death with the dirge that's on Sky every night and refuse to pay for it anymore. I'm going to go with broadband only and get a freeview box with hard drive.
Any advice gratefully received
TIA.

I think you'll find that all the networks require to rent a phone line. Cheapest I've seen is EE landline offer. BB for about £3a month. AFAIK, only alternative is dongle. I got mine from T MOBILE before the merger and it's PAYG at £30 for 90 days. Great for PH etc and e mails. I've had few problems with downloads ( seems relatively fast , considering it's rated at 7.2MBps). There is a 1GB download ,fair play policy, but apart from nagging notices I've not noticed any problems the few times I've been over. Possibly better deals on pay monthly .
You'll find much the same problem on Freeview- since the World cup ,it's been more and more garbage on repeats. We record things we want to watch due to the volume and length of ads . But I can recommend HUMAX , bit pricier, but at the top end of quality. Since you have a SKY dish -why not add a freesat box to that setup, as most times you can only record two channels ( sometimes you can watch a third) on a freeview box. I've got mine through an old VCR , so in the unlikely event of thre decent recordable programmes at same time ,i can record all three .

Check out TalkTalk broadband only offer, they have it half price for a year at the moment at under £2per month. Line rental on top but pay it a year in advance (value line rental) and you get a substantial saving. I've been with them years and had no problems at all.
I agree about the freesat box.
Personally I watch my viewing via Netflix and Amazon Prime, really is TV on demand and there's a st load to pick from and getting better all the time.
