I ve a Nuvi 660 and took out lifetime map updates some years ago. I had to insert an SD card to fit in the later updates which in my case are Europe North West. I was in Spa last weekend and Germany and the blasted thing was totally lost. Am I doing somethng wrong or is it somethong else?
What's the latest map update called , mine shows 2014.4 and I only updated it last week.

So have you logged into Garmin with your "registered Nuvi" device and checked? If there is an update it will provide it via Garmin Express which should also be loaded on your PC/Mac/Laptop whatever you use?

Different devices have different versions of Maps and Europe comes in lots of different versions, small, medium & complete??

Yes, the Garmin Website can be an a*se to navigate/wait for updates etc!!

HTHs ?

T

P.S. My "old" Nuvi occassionally gets lost & switching off and then on again restores it? I gave up with this early Nuvi and gone to the 25xx series Nuvi with lifetime maps & traffic - what a difference in speed and information and relatively cheap?? recommend you "update-the-Nuvi!!"

Had the same thing, went to Kempen in Belgium, Sat Nav didn't know the way, only had basic maps. Phoned Garmin, checked the maps installed on the device. So what had happened, when I did the last update, the device updated, but the card maps (rest of Europe) were corrupt, and not showing as loaded. So only had basic mapping in Europe. Had to re-format the sd card, then re-install the Europe maps from map install (did this via the sd card in the PC, not via the usb cable to the device). All working ok again now. Mate had exactly the same problem a couple of weeks ago, after an update
