Good evening all.

If this makes sense, my gear stick sits quite far forward within the rectangular opening of the centre console trim, so much so that the gaiter is worn and ripped at the front. I have no problem selecting gears it just rubs slightly in 1st and 3rd.

I've not taken the trim off to investigate but I guess I could extend the opening slightly without too much trouble, or should I be looking elsewhere for a problem?

Are new gaiters available in the same colour?

Cheers
Lawrie

That may depend what colour you've got?

Most of the "generic" ones on Ebay and the like are too pointy, it needs to be a very flat pyramid shape.

Pretty simple thing to sew up if you have some leather or vinyl the correct colour and a sewing machine (or a very helpful sister)?

Providing the covering on your console has not gone too hard and brittle with age you should be able to cut some fibreglass away and re-wrap and gluethe edges under.
Tricky bit is cutting out the fibreglass without "catching" the vinyl (leather?), I used a Dremel.

I used someone that advertises S series gaiters on EBay, and they were helpful, even sending me some samples of colours. Would have been great if the mouse hadn't nibbled the new, lovely leather smelling Gaiter...
