Looking to change my 46" Panasonic for a shiny new toy.

4K's ? Read the early models were poor, but latest generation are improving. I know there isn't a huge amount of content yet apart from Netflix 4K, but would like to get something with future capabilities?

Most of my Movies are streamed by Ethernet via my NAS, so will use the TV to watch HD Films and SKY HD.

Any recommendations please? Budget is £1500 max

p.s. Hate these new curved jobies

I started a thread about 4K TV's a couple of months ago, it's probably on page 2 so have a look at that. The TV I was offered through a works salary sacrifice scheme wasn't great so I didn't go for it and the 4k standard is still a 'draft' standard so is subject to change and the screens are improving with every new release. My own personal thoughts? Wait or spend more.

Standards are still being thrashed out. You could be buying the equivalent of the Sony Betamax or worse HD DVD.

Decided I need to upgrade to a good TV sooner rather than later. 4K capabilities is not important, but having it is nice for future.
So have narrowed it down to the Sony KD-49X8505 or Samsung UE48HU7500. Both look excellent TVs and really can't split them on performance, but think the Samsung is just swinging it at the moment.

I'm waiting for OLED to come down in price. LG's new model is about a quarter of the price of their last model smile True blacks! 4K can wait until there's at least decent content available.

But in the future your TV's 4k may not be the same standard as future 4k?

Ended up getting a Samsung UE48HU7500 4K. I must say once at home and setup its really impressive. Dynamic and Movie settings, the picture clarity and blacks are like nothing i've seen on a TV before. SKY TV looks amazing and Blu Ray is off the clock. Very Happy purchase.

I went for the 55" version of this TV, it the best non cirved model they do and I recommend anyone considering to try out this model - be warned lesser models are absoltely terribel on standard Def (hence the 850 price tag) but this one is great. Please it does have the one connect interface on the back, this means if they change the specs Samsung can release a breakout box to attach on the back and bring back into line.

Very happy with the Tv myself and have just ordered the external media drive containing 10 movies and 30 documentaries all in 4K from the US (fingers crossed they work on a UK model)
