I was driving to the Dukes Pass from Doune on Sunday in the Stradale and just before Callander a Zonda came up behind me which was C12 PAG. Probably one of the nicest cars I have seen on the road. I didnt know who it was but I recognise the pistonheads name from the Ferrari section.

Took this circa 1994, when my future wife and me discovered this incredible route in our 205 gti. Very special memories.

Scottsburgring is a cracking little run. Best in a smaller car IMO ... elise / 964 / 993 or even a good hatch like an ITR

The enjoyment of roads has so much to do with the right car and also the lack of other cars IMO

I was on my way to Applecross with a big group from DDK. When we stopped at the Commando Memorial near Fort William,
gave my wife a call to find she wasn't feeling well. Ended up turning around and driving straight back to Cambridge. Drove past this loop on the way to a Fort William but couldn't take the diversion as had to get to the meeting point. Was thinking of doing it on the way back to Killin, where we were staying, but of course didn't as had to get to Cambridge. :-(

Not sure when I will get another chance.

Apparently road to Applecross was good - although more suited to early 911s than CS or GT3.

Driving I did get to do in Scotland was a mixed bag. Some great stretches but too much traffic (nice weekend in August). Best roads I did were actually on the way up from Kielder Forest up to Falkirk.

Will have to plan another trip, although next time likely to be to an independent Scotland!

On my last trip south after selling up my house in the far north we came down via Kinlochleven as I wanted to show my wife the route we used to take before the bridge was built.
Had many a great trip along there in my mini van, a friend who was a race driver, and at the time running a Triumph 2000TC could not get away from the little 850cc mini, it was a "spirited" drive from Kinlochleven to Fort Bill wink

A few months later I noticed my friend was using a Mini van in some competitions biggrin

Leaving Wick for the last time

Stopping to admire the view between Kinloch Leven and Glen Coe

There are great views along the loch ... when it is not raining in August!

Loved the miniture ring slightly farther south, round loch creran ( crerranring ? ).

You had to be careful though at the spring tides, when the road would be under high tide, and you had to use the private track to get round the floods . . .
Boih great roads, but you have to watch out for cyclists who (like me) use these roads so as not to clog up the main roads.

I have maybe become more aware but I am sure there are more sports cars on the loop when I go there now but mostly going anti clockwise for some reason.

Anyway I picked up an utterly fantastic machine in October which I have spent £000's on so far with a complete respray with decals due in 2015. 997.2 GT3 out and 968 CS in. Its an Evo 5 Star car and thats in standard form with mine having the full shopping list of modern day upgrades. Go and get a good 968 and get new brakes, suspension and a LSD and its staggering value.

Outside the old post office in Kinlochleven>

I'm guilty of that, given it a couple of goes this year and it's just habit to turn right at Glencoe village now. Absolutely brilliant fun regardless, especially the North side smile

This road is mint. "Kinlockring" well named. It's not often I turn around for another go! The first time I saw this road I was on a coach on the way to mountain training with the Marines years ago and an Impreza blasted past. Lucky local I thought.

Heads up for anyone planning on doing this in the next couple of weeks: they've top dressed a couple of sections of the south side so there are loose chippings galore. Will probably be fine after a couple of weeks.
