iPad friendly roadie route planning
Discussion
So I'm sitting here at the moment with a big glass of red and a large bowl of pasta, and it's lovely, but that's not the point.
I need to plan a ride for tomorrow and Google doesn't have cycling directions for Italy, and won't let me put waypoints in walking or driving routes so I'm a bit stuck. I'm thinking about heading over the big hill behind me to lake Como, doing a lap and heading back from Como, but would like to see if I can manage 130k or even 100miles depending on how my badly trained legs cope. I have all day so hopefully I can manage it, inter spaced with espresso and pizza stops...
So, any recommended route planners, or places not to miss?
Thanks!

There is a few hundred metres of tunnel near the top of the lake. Make sure you have some lights if you plan to head through it. I had a nice coffee and a cake at the ferry area by Bellagio, but you could do that anywhere along the route. Some of the roads get a bit narrow for 2 cars to pass.
So it turns out I'm significantly less fit/talented than I hoped! Managed 85k and had to stop countless times heading up the mountain on the way back from Argegno to Pellio Superiore but made it (albeit at about 10kph most of the way) without resorting to walking. I'm looking forward to seeing the Garmin data when I get home, my legs are screaming now!
I thought that as I can fairly easily clear the cat 3 climbs around my apartment this should be fine, but I now understand how a stage full of cat 3&4 climbs can be one for the sprinters but stuff like this kills them. I'm glad I didn't do the route the other way though, there was a series of switchbacks signed at 18%, so I was very happy to have disc brakes on my bike for that bit, and even happier I didn't have to ride (walk) up them.

Nope, but might do next time, it's only a couple of hours in the car to get there and some great roads for riding on.

That was the route I took.
