Any local experts ?

For the other halfs birthday so budget not much of an issue

Something with a wow factor would be good

Tried tripadvisor but tends to bias towards good value rather than special event places (nothing wrong with that, just not what is required on this occasion )

Michelin star style smile

Not really fussed on cuisine type, just somewhere with great food and a luxury feel

Not really any really high end restaurants in Paphos

Tweddie's in Kissonerga is supposed to be good but never been as always shut when we are there

Grazie is the best of the Italian that we have been to

If you are prepared to drive try Limanakis in Pissouri Bay (about 40 minutes away).

You will need to book a few days in advance.

+1 on the food and you will have to book.
Not sure that the location is special enough though.

Have you considered any of the large hotels in Paphos? They would be my first choice if you can find a good recommendation.

Staying in the Elysium so I want to go out of hotels for a change, also don't particularly want to drive too far as I want to have a drink

Hello, i'm from Paphos so maybe i can help, hope it's not too late.

You could try one of the golf clubs nearby. Minthis Hills in Tsada village is quite good http://www.minthishills.com/. Lovely place and views. It's about 25min drive from Elysium depending on traffic. Or Elea Estate http://www.eleaestate.com/easyconsole.cfm?id=114 which is nearer, just off Geroskipou village, about 10min drive. Also good food and environment.

As others mentioned not many proper high-end places in Paphos and the Elysium Italian restaurant is actually quite highly regarded. Olivetto, about 2min drive from Elysium is nice but not proper luxurious. Similar with Gold Sakura. You could rent a private transfer and visit Annassa Hotel in the norther part of Paphos district near Latchi. One of the best hotels in Cyprus.
