Your car will be impounded and crushed upon arrival in France.

You will also be publicly flogged!
Seriously though. Probably nothing, even if you get stopped by plod. As I've said many times before on here, people worry unduly about the various rules and regulations that exist in France. The truth is, the Gendarmes are interested in insurance, license, MOT, and whether you have the 90euros on you or whether it's off to the cash point. I wouldn't give it a second thought, particularly as it will come in very handy given the recent proliferation of cameras over here.

Presumably the built in can only use databases for fixed camera locations - if so they are little concern to you as a UK motorist.

It's the mobiles you have to worry about.

I always turn off databases for mobiles as otherwise it beeps every 30 seconds!

Camera warnings on the GPS are not supposed to be precise any more -- they beep at the start of a 2km long 'danger zone'.

Leave a passcode on your tomtom if you're worried, and turn it off sharpish if you're pulled. May not work on a GTR!

Radar / laser detectors are very very illegal and will result in all sorts of unpleasantness. Not to say people don't have them, of course...
