Hi - I have a 1998 car with a 1.6 K series engine. Chassis number starts SDKRDS but the 7th character is an "A" for alternative, any ideas what this means?

Try Here http://7faq.com/owbase/ow.asp?ChassisNumbers#h9 why not post the question to the Lotus 7 Club?

Thanks. I found the FAQ stuff and used that to find that an "A" meant Alternative. Just wondering what "Alternative" meant smile

I'll ask on the 7 club website, I'm just not a member yet so was hoping for some help through here.

Here are a couple of responses on Blatchat:

http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=84851

Nothing really conclusive I'm afraid. There were more posts asking what is meant but had no further answers on it.

Cheers

The chassis issue seems a bit confusing to me.

My car is an ex Academy car, the chassis number denotes a standard chassis but the battery tray is set much lower than a standard car (no modification has been made to the chassis to facilitate this) and it has a shortened passenger foot box so you might resonably assume it's a race chassis?

Understanding all the variations seems to be a bit of a black art!?
