Anyone got a link to a decent Amiga emulator? This thread is bringing back some happy memories.
WinUAE is the one I know of. It's easy to use and works well. The only problem however is that you need an Amiga kickstart ROMs to use the emulator (it's basically the original Amiga hardware ROM in software format).
Each ROM is specific to certain Amiga models (e.g. kickstart 1.3 is for the A500 whereas kickstart 3.1 is for the A1200). To run particular games - you may need specific version of the kickstart ROM, based on which Amiga model the game was compatible with at the time.
These ROMs are still under licence and thus to use them legally - they either have to be purchased, or if you still own an Amiga - you can legally extract the ROM and use it.

Championship Manager. I lost many many hours of my life to this one.
I used to play whole seasons in an evening when I got home from school. I'm sure my brother bought Ryan Giggs at Juventus on the Italia version and he scored 70 goals in one season. This was back in the day when Serie A was ultra defensive so you set up an attacking formation and blitzed the league. I think it was a 3-3-1-3 direct style of play used with the wingers pushing on. Wings and Sensible soccer were my favourites.
The Amiga is still surprisingly popular with new hardware/software still being developed, I recently started collecting some retro hardware from my youth and have quite a few old consoles and computers. I've now got an Amiga 1200 with a 4gb ssd with 1000's of games, 128mb 25mhz 68020 accelerator and DVI out. Someone in the Amiga community created a program called WHDload and have since converted ~98% of the games ever released to run straight from hdd, no disk swapping and super fast loading with full compatibility across the different models. You can run it all with emulators like Winuae but its not the same as using the old hardware
