I've only seen a couple of 500Ls that weren't hire cars and after driving one I can understand why. They're horrific.
In and around London they are very common indeed...

We got a 500L as a rental in Italy. It is pig ugly but we got 4 adults, my 2 y/o daughter in her baby seat and luggage for all in the car with no bother at all. The ride was good, it was quiet on the motorway bar some wind noise round the A-pillars and had loads of standard kit. It also sipped diesel alarmingly slowly. Small wheels with high profile tyres contributed heavily to the decent ride. I found it quite likeable to be honest!

The bubble shaped Picasso - usually in a horrible light blue - is the car people who have given up on life and driving love, if that is they can muster such an emotion from the depths of their apathetic souls.

What happens when you are in this position and you feel a twitch, the faintest pulse that life might be worth living. You think fk it! I'm going out to have me some automotive fun and you trot along to your local Citroen dealer and part ex your blue Frog stbox for this.

Poor sad pathetic hopeless people. I really pity them.

I don't like this car very much.

Wow. Perhaps sir would like a wider broom so he can make even larger sweeping statements! Might need a few more edits to get there though, but possibly worth it!

Glad to see Les Frogs doing what they do best and not trying to copy the uber dullness of the Germans.

Interesting solutions and a bit of radical thinking.

Looks ten times better than the Countryman which looks like Dani Devito having taken too many steroids and morphed into Arni.

Glad the Italians and French are at least resisting the German onslaught, with flair and individual solutions.

White and chocolat brown though. oops.

I love it, although I have reservations about all the controls being on the screen. Shame the drive doesn't sound great, it'll be interesting to see if the base model has a bit more charm.

I just kept thinking of more things to rant about. :-).

Oh and an edit to say I did not intend you offence by the use of the term "Frog". Speaking as a "Roast Beef" myself with Jock, Yank and apparently very distant Kraut heritage. :-)

Ha! Don't worry, I wasn't offended! I'd probably be more offended by being labelled a poor sad pathetic hopeless person with an apathetic soul (not quite sure what that is), but luckily I assume everyone in GG talks st smile

I like it. And if I bought one it'd be the £13k petrol one. At that price (undiscounted...) it seems a decent buy to me.

PS I won't be buying one though. But if I were I'd buy one.

The C3 Pluriel and now the C4 Cactus, the search for the modern 2CV replacement goes on, without success again.
As for the Jap throwing star wheels, yuck .
The only thing it beats a 2CV on is the likely NCAP rating.

I despair at how old fashioned and out of date you all are.

Modern design, cutting edge ideas and all you can do is moan about Citroens from 15 years ago.
You really should take a look in the mirror and wonder where your enthusiasm for motoring has gone, perhaps your on the wrong website.

Citroen havnt done large cashback discounts for the last 5 years.

Yes I drive a DS5, the car that Top Gear say is the coolest family car on the market, but I imagine you'll hear DS5 and picture an XM in your minds.

The cactus is refreshing and im pleased many of you "sheep" wont buy it, that way I can easily identify all the muppets, still driving heavy, poor handling Audi's.

I really like the look of them. Something different and interesting. If you look at the price comparisons with other manufacturers similar cars then they are all in the same ball park.

They are also based on the DS3 platform, which I think can only be a good thing. I regularly drive a DS3 (1.6 diesel), as well as a ford focus (Again the 1.6 diesel, 2013 model).. and I must say the DS3 favourably compares in the ride/handling/speed stakes. All IMHO, of course.

The only thing the DS3 looses out on at the moment is the lack of cup holders!! Then again that might be down to spec...

Well done Citroen, when the DS3 is up for replacement I will mark the Cactus as a serious contender.

Hopefully not. Our dealership is taking an awful lot of enquiries for them at the moment on our retail side.

That's good, and I agree with your assumption re the st. However with a TVR and the BX in your profile, I can assume you are not the average Picasso owner.

If you feel you need to defend your choice of car, you probably should have bought something else.

Nobody has denied that recent Citroens have come a long way from those of 15 years ago, in terms of looks. They are attractive with all their mod-cons and cheap, cheap pricing but there is a reason prestige cars cost so much - its because to make sure all the mod-cons work and work well for a long time, they can't be thrown together using inferior components and chucked in just to make a headline sales piece.

I used to run a 2001 BMW 728i with over 100k miles. I paid £5000 for it. Everything worked perfectly (except the TV which was analogue). It never let me down, nothing broker or failed to work, no trim fell off. There wasn't even a squeak, rattle, bang or clunk ever heard over the next 20k odd miles it racked up in my ownership, when it then was sold for £4000. If your Citroen can do the same at that age & mileage, and still hold it's value to the same degree then I'll take it all back. The fact is, it won't.

You pays your money....

I've just had a meeting with the After Sales Director of Citroen UK and he's just read some of your posts.

He commented that the Air Bump on the side of the vehicle really does work. They had a Cactus at the Academy recently which took a whack from an adjacent car door. The Air Bumps stopped any lasting damage being left on the car.

So although they are an unusual appearance they certainly do what they say on the tin.
