Freelander/Discovery3/XC90/Touareg
Discussion
Dear All
I am looking to sell my Ford Kuga Titanium and use some of the money to buy a 4x4,
I cannot however decide between the following:
Landrover Freelander 2
Landrover Discovery 3
Volvo XC90
VW Touareg
I am looking to spend £7-8k,
My main fear is that the freelanders boot is too small, how does this compare to the Kuga?
I do not believe the quoted 755l of space is correct? Are there any real world dimensions for the actual boot size?
What are peoples views on the above choice??
Thank you

Discovery will break down a lot
Xc90 is boring as hell
Toureg will break down nearly as much as a discovery
Freelander is just a bit feminine.
Sorry to disagree with all your helpful and constructive opinions, but a Freelander feminine? It's the chunkiest most box shaped SUV in the class, I can't think of a less feminine vehicle in the sector, it's anything but pretty outside or inside and that's from an owner's point of view!Xc90 is boring as hell

Ha I agree with you, its pretty muscular, and if the only negative that person can helpfully come up with is that it is a bit feminine, then I am fine with that if everything else breaks down! We've had a 07 plate Freelander for some years now and it's been good. There are some good deals on the run out Metropolis,so may replace it soon.
We've looked at others on this list and nothing fits our requirements as well.
Edited to say the boot in the FL is great, with room for the detritus of my three young boys.

Ive had both the Freelander 2 (2010) and Discovery 3 (2008), both good vehicles IMHO.
My worry would be with a 7-8k budget a potentially trouble free/good discovery would be hard to find. No doubt the disco is a much bigger more versatile vehicle and nicer to drive generally, the 7 seats also come in very handy but a better Freelander 2, less likely to give you issues would be my choice for the budget.
Something else to maybe consider..... I picked up a 2004 Porsche Cayenne S, 50k miles, every extra possible, absolutely immaculate condition, 2 previous owners for 8k. Not cheap running costs in terms of mpg but the wife mainly uses it and she does little over 50 miles a week, so not too much of a concern. The V8 sounds great too!
