Anyone agree with the Top 10?

I know often games that have come out recently and are fresh in the memory fare well in these surveys but was surprised with number 1.

Haven't played a few of the latest console games, but for example to have Halo and COD above half life is wrong IMHO

Its not a bad list but I think FFVII, Skyrim, Golden Eye, Halo and Metal gear had a better first impression on me than The last of us.

my top ten would have been

  1. FFVII
  2. Metal Gear Solid
  3. Halo
  4. Golden Eye
  5. Skyrim
  6. Last Of Us
  7. Assassins Creed 2
  8. Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow
  9. Sonic 2
  10. Half Life
but thats only my opinion wink

Is Assassins Creed II that good?

It has never really appealed to me - perhaps I should give it a go and see the light?

Really?

Can't say that is "of all time", where are all the classics:

Space Invaders
Pac Man
Track and Field
Manic Miner
Sensible Soccer
etc.

Some of these games defined a generation.

Can't view the link at work, but from reading the above posts i'm shocked not to see Cannon Fodder or Sensible Soccer listed.

Goldeneye, and Halo deserve to be very high up as well, along with Mario Kart & Grand Turismo (1st one)

I'd also expect to see Championship Manager in the top 30 or so.

All of these were generation defining games.

Champ Manager was 70-odd.

Gran Turismo not in there at all.

Syndicate Wars? Carmageddon?

Nope!

RTS games are quite rare on the list too, top one is Warcraft III at #58 as far as I can see.
I must be seriously out of touch with gaming (I'm 32) as I've only played 3 from the top 25 and never heard of number 7 (Shenmue), though maybe that's because it's a console heavy list.

Pleased to see grim fandango made the list. Watched the trailer again and really ought to re play it.

The list suffers the same problem that imdb does. The old games people have forgotten but people play something great and give it a 10. Just check out the top 100 films on imdb, way to many mediocre films and far to many in the top 100. Inception the 13th best film ever made... Yeah right.

The gaming list will be mostly populated by 15 year olds votes which haven't heard of the classics.

Must have been written by a 20 year old!

The Last of Us is a poor Half Life clone (IMHO) - How can you have a list of all time greats without Quake I don't know!
